March Blogger Beauty Box

Yes, that’s right, I just said March in the title. I know it’s May now! Several weeks ago I decided to give the Blogger Beauty Box a try as I’d heard lots of good things. It is the creation of Vicky over at Vix Meldrew and I loved the idea of a box of fun beauty bits aimed at helping bloggers discover new brands. I love beauty, specifically skincare, but I tend to stick to my favourite brands rather than branching out. I thought this would be a great way to be introduced to new products and for £10 including delivery the whole thing sounded perfect.

Right back to this whole March thing. The box arrived at the end of March but as I wasn’t in when the postman arrived it ended up with a neighbour. I kept missing the neighbour and it took me over a week to actually get hold of my box. Then I decided I should spend a few weeks trying the bits out before I write anything and next thing I know it has somehow become May. So to sum up, I’m terrible and time is moving far too quickly.

The Chilli Pickle

I’ve been a big fan of Deliveroo for a while now. What’s not to like? They bring me food from all of my favourite local places. If you’ve not heard of them before, Deliveroo is a restaurant food delivery service, and in Brighton includes tonnes of my favourite restaurants. I always order through their phone app, which is clean, well laid out and very easy to use. Just download the app, type in your postcode and it tells you which places they will currently collect from. I order and pay over the app which is really simple and then for a small fee of £2.50 they bring it to my door. I’ve used them lots of times and I’ve never been able to fault them on their service. Once my friend and I ordered from them for our take-away, wine and film night, but neither of us were able to get the cork out of the wine. I asked the very friendly Deliveroo delivery man and he kindly did it for us and saved the evening!

A night at the movies with Gracewell's

I’m on a bit of a savings kick at the moment in the attempt to start to build up a deposit for a home. I’ve mentioned it previously as part of my 101 in 1001 goals. This means Tom and I have been tying to have more fun in the flat rather than going out all the time, which can be tricky when Brighton is constantly tempting you out with fun. When Gracewell Healthcare got in touch and asked if I wanted to host a movie night I thought it sounded perfect.

Although we watch a lot of films we don’t often make much of an occasion out of it in the same way we might a night at the cinema. We also tend to just watch whatever comes on telly without putting too much thought into it. So last week we decided to make a bit more of an effort and make a proper evening out of it. This is similar to what Gracewell’s do in their care homes, they host regular film nights and encourage the residents families to attend as a way of bringing generations together, which I think is lovely.

The Body Shop Turns 40

Wow, firstly how is it April already?! I know everyone says this every year, but this year seems to be flying by at warp speed. Two weeks ago I was lucky enough to be invited to The Body Shop Brighton’s 40th birthday party to join a group of local bloggers and help them celebrate. I’ve always absolutely loved The Body Shop, so I was pretty excited.

Firstly, happy bank holiday weekend everyone! If you are lucky enough to be off have a great four day weekend, and if you are working I hope your days go quickly. I’m off from work and have headed up to Milton Keynes to stay with my family for the weekend.

Last week was a really great blog week for me, despite my lack of posting! I was just really busy which was lovely. On Saturday I attended my first ever blogger meet up – the Brighton Blog Meet. Although I’m not usually a nervous or shy person this was quite a new thing for me and after chatting with Holly from Closing Winter we decided to arrive together to make it less scary, as it was the first event for both of us. We met for coffee beforehand and then at 2pm promptly headed into The Globe, which is a little pub on Middle Street.
